Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) officially released
The latest version of Ubuntu is officially available for download. Code named Intrepid Ibex this release includes the latest version of the Kernel, Gnome desktop environment and Xorg etc. It also brings some good features like the ability to install Ubuntu on a USB drive, Guest Sessions.
Intrepid Ibex releases of Kubuntu – Ubuntu with the K Desktop Environment and Xubuntu – Ubuntu with the XFCE desktop environment are available for download too.
I am in the process of downloading the release and will post my experience soon.
XUbuntu 8.04 on Compaq Armada M300
I recently decided to rebuild my trusted little Compaq Armada M300 laptop and thought might give Ubuntu another try. Since the laptop is only 500 Mhz with 128 MB RAM XUbuntu is a better candidate as compared to Ubuntu. My earlier attempt of installing XUbuntu had not been very successful but this time I managed to get things working
