Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron) on Compaq Evo N610c
Ubuntu 8.04 LTS was officially released on 24 Apr 2008 and I like tens of thousands of other Ubuntu enthusiasts was looking forward to downloading the final release. I wanted to test drive Ubunto 8.04 LTS on my trusted old Compaq Evo N610c.
Downloading the ISO turned out to be the biggest challenge because the most of the download mirror servers were overloaded. It took me 1.5 hrs to download the ISO file using BitTorrent. After this hurdle was crossed I was up and running in the next 30 mins.

In my earlier post I wrote about Securing Windows Remote Desktop with OpenSSH. This week we see how we can extend the setup to map a network drive over SHH. 1 commentLive Cricket, Soccer and more using SopCast
Do you miss watching live cricket or UEFA soccer? Are Sports packages on Cable/Satellite TV too expensive? Don’t worry be happy because in comes Peer-to-Peer TV (P2PTV) to the rescue. As the name suggests P2PTV leverages Peer-to-Peer technology to distribute audio/video. The first question someone would have is how is the quality? The answer is its very good and the secret lies in the P2P technology. Every user who is downloading the video stream is also simultaneous uploading the same video stream hence contributing to the overall bandwidth.
There are many P2PTV software available but the oldest and most popular amongst the lot is SopCast.
